Public Service and Emergency Communications

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) consist of licensed amateur radio operators who volunteer for communications duty when disaster strikes. ARES works in public service and is managed by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). RACES works in public safety and is managed by the Ulster County Department of Emergency Management.

The ARES/RACES team affiliated with OMARC meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Ulster County Fire/Rescue Training Center, 259 Ulster Landing Road, Kingston, NY. All amateur radio operators and others interested in emergency communications are welcome to attend.

Our designated repeater is the OMARC repeater at 146.805 MHz, -600 KHz offset, PL=103.5 Hz.
